Eastern Bhutan Textile Tour

Our handlooms have been playing very important role in preservation of our age-old cultural heritage. Hand looming is the income source for rural community and self employment for women and also the unique products plays a distinctive identity of Kingdom of Bhutan. This tour will bought our guests whole inspirations and a dream in reality of the Textiles in Bhutan. Our guests will come across the different area, such like how our Bhutanese women are weaving a tapestry of colors and patterns with their hands and also our representatives will assist to facilitate more about our textiles in Bhutan.

Itinerary in detail

Day 01: International arrival and night halt at capitol town, Thimphu
Our Guests will be received at the Paro International Airport by The Bhutan Travel’s representatives, and will drive into main Paro town for lunch and after that  will visit the National Museum, housed in the Ta Dzong (watchtower), here, an intriguing collection of artifacts provide a wonderful introduction to the rich culture and heritage of the Kingdom. Just a short walk downhill lays the dominating Paro Dzong, a fine example of Bhutanese historic architecture, from the Dzong, the tour crosses Nyamai Zampa, a traditional cantilever bridge, and guests are then driven to the town temple, built in 1525, to view ancient wall paintings. After all these sightseeing tour, in evening time, will drive toward capitol town of Kingdom of Bhutan. Reaching in there, our representatives will assist to check in Hotel directly and our guests will rest, and before dark, super will be served.

DAY 02. THIMPHU HALT
The day begins with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten built in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and the Dupthop Lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan. We then drive to the view point of Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). for your photograph and Folk Heritage museum.
Lunch will be served in the town. After lunch we will be visiting the weaving factory and finally visit the Handicrafts Emporium and shopping for souvenirs in the shops of Thimphu. Evening at leisure.
Diner and over night stay at hotel, Thimphu.

DAY 4. THIMPHU – WANGDUE PHODRANG
After the breakfast, we will drive to Wangdue via Punakha . The drive will take about 3hours. At dochula pass (3150m) we can see the eastern Himalayan Mountain ranges on the clear days. The view is so great and spectacular. The vegetation is made up of rhododendron, magnolia bloom in early spring and through the subtropical forest. At Punakha visit Punakha dzong, , it was the winter capital of Bhutan until 1955 when the capital was permanently shifted to Thimphu. It still served as the winter resident for the monk body.
Lunch at Punakha.After lunch we will drive to Wangdue. On the way we will visit Chhimi Lhakhang, which is located at a hilltop. We have to walk about 25minutes from the road point. This temple is also known as temple of fertility.

DAY 5. WANGDUEPHODRANG – BUMTHANG
After breakfast we will drive to Bumthang. The drive will take about 7hours. Before we proceed further, we will visit Wangduephodrang dzong, which was founded by the lama Zhamdrung in 1638. Then we will continue our journey to Bumthang.
Lunch we will have at Chendebji Resturant. On reaching Trongsa, we will visit Trongsa dzong, It is the most impressive dzong in the country. It shows one of the most artistic and magnificent works of traditional Bhutanese architecture. After this we will continue our journey to Bumthang, another drive of 2hours and 30minutes through the Yutongla pass (3400m)
Dinner and over night stay in hotel, Bumthang.

DAY 6. BUMTHANG HALT.
Today we will visit one of the farm house in Bumthang to experience the dying and weaving.
Lunch in the hotel. After lunch we will do sight seein in Bumthang.

DAY 7. BUMTHANG – LHUENTSHI
After the breakfast, we will drive to Lhuentshi. The drive will take about 8 hours. at Lhuentshi we have to put up in the tent.
Lunch pack lunch or at the local restaurant.
Dinner and over night stay in the camp, Lhuentshi.

DAY 8. LHUENTSHI – LHUENTSHI
Today we will visit the village of Khoma to experience the weaving of Bhutan. Khoma village is one of the famous village for the production of textile in Bhutan.
Lunch picnic pack lunch.
Dinner and over night stay in the camp, Lhuentshi.

DAY 9. LHUENTSHI – TRASHIGANG -RANGJUNG.
After our early breakfast we will drive to Rangjung Trashigang. The drive will take about 7hours.   Today we will drive through the leafy forest with ferns and the Korila Pass (2333m). We will also pass through the scattered villages and cornfields and banana groves and the eight zigzags of Yadi.
Lunch picnic pack lunch. After our lunch we will continue or journey to Rangjung, Trashigang.
Dinner and over night stay in the hotel, Rangjung; Trashigang.

DAY 10. RANGJUNG HALT.
Today we will experience the weaving in the Radhi village which is famous of the textile production in Bhutan especially the raw silk.
Lunch will be served in the hotel or pack lunch. In the evening we will visit Rangjung monastery.

DAY 11. RANGJUNG – KHALING
After our breakfast we will drive to Khaling. The drive will take about 3hours.At Trashigang, we will visit Trashigang dzong.
Lunch picnic pack lunch.
At Khaling we can learn the methodology of the weaving the textile in Bhutan. We can also experience the dying and weaving the textile of Bhutan at Khaling Handloom.
Dinner and over night stay in the camp, Khaling.

DAY 12. KHALING – SAMDRUP JONGKHAR.
Today we will drive to Samdrupjongkhar, the border town of eastern Bhutan. The drive will take about 4hours. we have drive through the tick forest and the scattered villages of eastern Bhutan.
Lunch pack lunch or at the local restaurant.
Dinner and over night stay in hotel, Samdrupjongkhar.

DAY 13. SAMDRUPJONGKHAR – GWAHATI (INDIA)
All the clients have to have their Indian visa. They have to get the Indian visa prior to their visit to Bhutan from the Indian embassies abroad. After the completion of the immigration formalities you will drive to Guwahati(India) by the Indian car. Our guide and driver will bid you fare well and we hope to see you again in Bhutan.
